OTONGA STATION in the picturesque Waimata Valley is the home of the Waimata Angus Stud. Very much a hill country operation, the original block of 1500 acres or 612 ha was added to in the early ‘70s with the purchase of neighbouring GLENORA STATION. This property is 1562 acres or 633 ha. More recently another adjoining Farm, COLEY which is 660 acres or 264 ha was added. The whole area of 3722 acres or 1488 ha is now farmed as OTONGA STATION.

We have a fairly simple operation based on attention to detail and trying to do the simple things well.Stockmanship and commonsense shape the

programme and the aim is to grow as much grass as possible on our moderate to steep hillcountry and convert that grass to money via our Angus cattle. To this end we strive to develop and utilize cattle

genetics that suit this philosophy and our

environment.Deciding on priorities and attention to timing are all-important.

Fertilizer and fencing are the key to achieving the above objectives.

We look forward to telling  more of the story,

so why not come on in….
